Tulsa, OK – Sergeant Craig Johnson of the Tulsa Oklahoma Police Department was killed in the line of duty after being shot multiple times during a traffic stop.
According to FOX 23 News, Sergeant Johnson and Officer Aurash Zarkeshan were on a traffic stop when the driver of the vehicle refused to get out of the vehicle when it was going to be towed. A struggle ensued and Sergeant Johnson tried to taser the suspect who grabbed the Taser from Johnson. The suspect then reached under his seat for a gun and fired at both officers several times.
The suspect fled the scene and was captured a short time later at a nearby home. Sergeant Johnson and Officer Zarkeshan were transported to the hospital. Officer Zarkeshan was listed in critical condition. Sergeant Johnson died from his injuries.
The Officer Down Memorial Page wrote that, 45 year old Sergeant Johnson served with the Tulsa Police Department for 15 year and is survived by his wife and two young sons.
