VIDEO: Police rescue woman being held hostage

TAMPA, FL – Police officers rescue a woman from an apartment after she was kidnapped and held hostage for over four hours.

Tampa Police responded to a call of an armed gunman who had broken into the victim’s home while she was sleeping. The suspect woke the victim, at gunpoint, and demanded money from her. The suspect rummaged through the victim’s purse and then forced her into her car, which he had stolen the day before.

The suspect drove the victim to his apartment where he held her hostage for over four hours.

Tampa Police were able to track the suspect to his home and came up with a plan to rescue the victim.

While police were evacuating nearby apartments, the suspect exited his home and immediately retreated back inside upon seeing the police officers.

Officers called out to the suspect but he refused to exit his apartment. Due to the exigent circumstances, officers forced open his door.

In the video, you can see the officers make contact with the suspect and rescue the victim before taking the suspect into custody without incident.

The suspect was charged with robbery, home invasion, kidnapping, false imprisonment, carjacking, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and grand theft.
