BOCA RATON, FL – 15-year-old Jesse Rosenblatt was hanging out near the Boca Raton inlet when he noticed a male jump into the ocean. He watched as the male struggled to swim across the inlet and realized he was stuck in the current.
Jesse reacted quickly and notified retired Boca Raton Ocean Rescue Captain, Tim Fry, who happened to be in the area wearing a lifeguard shirt. Fry called 911 and units were dispatched to search for the male who was no longer in sight.
Jesse provided first responders with a description of the male and where in the water he last saw him.
Jesse anxiously stood by while units searched for the man. Eventually Boca Raton Police marine officers spotted the 24-year-old male in the water about 500 yards offshore and brought him to safety.
When Jesse learned that the male would be okay, he was very relieved and overcome with emotion.
Thank you Jesse and Captain Fry for your quick thinking and actions. You are both true heroes.
